Arthur (Art) Samuel Valdez
September 28, 1947 - November 13, 2023
Loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend
Arthur Samuel Valdez of Price, Utah passed away after his battle with cancer on November 13, 2023. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving wife, children & grandchildren.
Art was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Jose Cristobal Valdez and Rafaelita T. Andrew (Valdez). He was raised in Salt Lake City and Price, Utah.
He graduated from West High school.
Sadly, Art lost his father at an early age which had a great impact on him, his brothers and their mother. He had two older brothers, Henry and Tony. Art was the youngest of them. The three of them were inseparable growing up and deeply loved one another and their mother. Art had a very close and loving relationship with his mom. She took care of them and in return, they too took care of her.
On October 8, 1966, Art married the love of his life, Mary Connie Guerrero of Helper, Utah. They had three daughters, Connie, Lisa (passed away February 16, 1977), Artie, and one son, Arthur.
They were happily married for 57 years. They loved & cherished every moment they were blessed to be with one another. Art used to love to give Mary a hard time and to sing to her. They joked & laughed often. Art loved Mary’s homemade tortillas and Mexican food and when she could, she gladly made all his favorite dishes.
Art worked for the Carbon School District in Price, Utah. Where he eventually retired from Creekview Elementary. He enjoyed his job because he was able to see his two youngest children daily when they were in elementary school.
Art enjoyed singing & listening to gospel and country music. He also had a passion for playing the drums and shooting pool. Art had a love of various cars & trucks. He had a red & black Roadrunner that he cherished as well as a brown truck that he was very proud of. He enjoyed fishing in Scofield, Utah with Lupe, Toby, & Bobby, as well as many other family members. He loved watching his favorite team the Denver Broncos play football too. His most enjoyable time spent was with his family. He enjoyed attending their sporting events, birthday parties, graduations, family & holiday gatherings.
Art was proceeded in death by his daughter Lisa Valdez, his father Cristobal J. Valdez, his mother Lita Andrew, his older brother Henry Valdez and his wife Pauline, his older brother Tony Valdez, mother-in-law Mary Ahalt, father-in-law Guadalupe Guerrero, sister-in-laws: Bessie Guerrero, Connie Montoya, and Shirley Burringo, brother-in-laws: Toby and Charlie Guerrero, Philip Ahalt, and Bobby Burringo.
