Arthur "John" Galpin III's Obituary
Arthur "John" Galpin passed from this world on February 21, 2023 shortly after celebrating his 85th birthday. He was born February 12, 1938 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Arthur and Doris Galpin. In 1962 he became a father to his beloved son John Arthur Galpin IV, who preceded him in death.
A cool cat in his early years, he'd be the first to admit that many of his choices were foolhardy but made for colorful stories he'd later share with a raspy laugh and the pride of a life actually lived. He could often be found walking for miles with his love, Mary Jane, and was always up for an impromptu trip to Wendover. Though his body aged faster than his mind, he'd be telling stories of his "ladies- man and outlaw days" to the very end.
As a veteran of the United State Army 8th infantry "Golden Arrow" Division, he served in Korea from 1955 to 1958. After his service in the military he was employed with Hugo Neu Recycling as a foreman and superintendent for many years.
John saw himself as a man with many faults, yet, in his later years began on a path to become a better man and heal the tears that he felt he had placed in the universe. In his final days he developed a firm appreciation of what was truly important- the simplicity of living surrounded by those you love.
He is survived by his brother Jerry Galpin and preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Doris Galpin; son, John Arthur Galpin IV; brothers Douglas and Terry Galpin; and sister, Karen Ward.
We love you John, praying everything is jam up and jelly tight as you find peace and rest on the other side.
