Arthur Roy Morin's Obituary
Arthur Roy Morin, 91, our beloved father, passed away peacefully at his daughter's home May 2, 2013. Dad was born December 6, 1921 in Baker, Oregon, the only son of Charles Arthur Morin and Mary Jeanette Shipp Morin. He was nurtured in a family suffused with love. He had four sisters whom he adored, and they adored him. He grew up on a ranch, where he learned to appreciate and enjoy the value of hard work. It was this combination of hard work and love that was the foundation for his moral, physical, and intellectual strength. Hard work was one of the defining characteristics of his life. Dad graduated from Brigham Young University, where he studied math and chemistry. His work experience included farm and dairy work, school teaching, insurance, and real estate. Art was the broker of his own real estate companies in both Utah and Idaho. Love of family and love of the gospel were two of his other defining characteristics. His faith in Christ was unwavering. Dad was a people person: friendly, able to connect with others, helpful, and positive: a common response when asked about his well-being was, "Young and beautiful!". He was full of hope. He was enthusiastic: “the difference between a geyser and a mud puddle is ENTHUSIASM!” was one of his favorite sayings. His posterity enjoyed his storytelling talent. Dad loved horses. He did not fear challenges. He served in the military during World War II - Army, Air Force and OSS. While in the military he received various service and conduct medals and distinguished himself as a boxer. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Northern States, where he met Rene Lyman, his future wife. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple October 29, 1948. They were a wonderful fit.
Dad is survived by all 11 children: Art (Norma), Brad (Cathy), Marilee (Roger Larsen), Julynn (Robert Simmons), Edward (Lorraine), Lynette (Jeff Moore), Benjamin (Deann), Burke (Christine), Chris (Connie), Charles (Kimber), Carolyn (Wally Arave), 57 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren, a sister RitaRae (Ed Elsberry) and a brother-in-law Russ Castleberry.
