Audrey Mariam Jenkins Skabelund's Obituary
Audrey Mariam Jenkins Skabelund passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at the age of 80 at her home in Orem. Born June 2, 1934. Audrey married Reid Mark Skabelund November 16, 1962 in the Logan LDS Temple. Together they had one daughter, Angela. Audrey graduated from North Cache High School, Westminster College, St. Marks School of Nursing, and earned her B.S. in education from The University of Nevada at Las Vegas.
Audrey excelled at sports, played commercial baseball, loved gardening, an excellent quilter, greatest organizer, and teacher. She could learn and do anything she desired. She repaired her own car, the plumbing, and had "skilled hands".
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in leadership and teaching positions, also served a full time mission to the Northwestern States.
She loved church sports, college football, golfing, basketball, and was the greatest at teasing, and storytelling. She suffered from extreme chronic back pain from injuring her back doing heavy farm work growing up. She suffered so much pain, loss, many surgical operations and procedures, and cancer. She came through everything with the most positive attitude. Resilient, fun, funny, pleasant, and so smart.
She is survived by her only child Angela of Orem, Utah and many close and lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Reid.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the Windsor Stake Center 60 East 1600 North Orem, Utah. Friends may call at the church Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
