In Loving Memory of Barbara Bernice Lawrence
With tremendous sadness, and deep love and gratitude, we announce the passing of Barbara Bernice Lawrence, who passed away on July 31, 2026, at the age of 80, surrounded by her loving children.
Barbara was born on October 27, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Delbert and Elma Louise Rammell. She graduated from Granite High School and began raising her family the following year.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including reading, cooking, word games, crafts and her koi fish. Barbara also worked as a security guard in Ferron, Utah, where she and her beloved husband, Michael, built their life together and made their home for almost 40 years. They moved to Tooele, Utah in 2016 to be closer to family and then on to the Holladay area in 2022.
Barbara was fiercely protective of her children, endlessly loving, incredibly funny, and remarkably quick-witted. She had a gift for delivering the perfect one-liner, often followed by the sweetest little smirk that showed she knew exactly what she had done.
She was the strongest woman we have ever known. Barbara devoted her life to raising her four children, loving them unconditionally, and showing them the meaning of strength, resilience, and unwavering devotion. Her love was constant, her courage unmatched, and her heart immeasurable.
Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael Lawrence; her son, Brett Marcelis; her parents, Delbert and Elma Louise Rammell; and her siblings, Arlene, Rick, and Gordon Rammell.
She is survived by her children, Troy Marcelis (Shauna), Jodi Marcelis, and Wendy Cox-Vetitoe (Brandon); her grandchildren, Jonathan Cox, Dustin Byerly (Stacey), Joshua Byerly, Hailey Friedman, Kassie Ivie, Brittany Varner (Jarred), Amber Myers, Maria Streif (Tyler), Kalvin Marcelis, Tearra Mills (Robert), Cody Felt, and McKayla Young (Colton); her great-grandchildren, Haven, Maddox, Trystan, Jaxson, Teigan, Brody, Sadie, Samuel, Mason, Deitrich, Keagan, Bella, Saylor, Xander, and Brooklyn. Barbara was truly one of a kind. Though our loss is beyond words, so is our gratitude for having been loved by her. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. Her legacy lives on through the memories she created, the laughter she shared, and the kindness, strength, humor, and unconditional love she gave so freely.
Celebration of Life will be held on October 3rd, 2026. Time and location will follow.
