Barbara Erasmus Martin's Obituary
Barbara Erasmus Martin of Delta, Utah passed away peacefully on Saturday March 16, 2013 in Springville, Utah. She was born in Johannesburg, South Africa on January 19th, 1941 to Garnet and Louise Phipson, the youngest of three children.
After graduating from high school she ran a horse stable, teaching riding and English dressage in Johannesburg. She also opened a dog boarding and breeding business. She studied homeopathy and became a practitioner, working mostly at first with horses and dogs. She came to the USA in 1981 along with her husband Andries Erasmus and her two children. In later years she married the late Robert Martin, and they served a mission to Australia, for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They then settled on a small farm in Delta. Barbara was a very talented artist, specializing in African animals, and won awards for some of her art work. She was also a gifted poet.
She will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Barbara is survived by her daughter Meryll (Doug) Prawitt and their children, Nathan (Megan), Matthew (Ashley), Natalie, Emily, AnnaLisa and Leah; and her son, Adrienne Levi. Also, her sister Arlene Langsmith (Owen) and their family. And her cousin Trevor (Denise) Krynie of South Africa, and their children.
