Beverly Jean Allen's Obituary
Beverly Jean Mitchell Allen, 85, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of March 2, 2016. She was born to Deon Livingston and Laverl Keele on May 23, 1930. She was the first of three children, one sister, Lois Rasmussen (Orem) and brother McCoy Livingston (Salt Lake City). She loved her family and spent her childhood days working and playing on the farm in Freedom, Utah, alongside her father, mother and siblings.
She married J. Kenneth Mitchell in 1949. They were sealed in the Manti Temple. They had four children Dianne Mitchell Yancey, Carolyn Parcell -Deceased-(Kenny), Blaine Kenneth Mitchell (Elizabeth) and Arlene Bilbao (Neal). Jean had 21 grandchildren and 52 Great grandchildren.
Later in her life she married Dewey Allen and became step-mother to his four children and grandmother to their children. She loved interacting with them.
Jean was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many ward and stake positions, including Ward Relief Society President, Young Women's President, Stake Young Women's Counselor and Camp Director. She loved serving in any capacity that she could.
Jean had a competitive nature. She enjoyed playing softball in her younger years and loved a good game of Candy Land or Yahtzee with her grandchildren.
Jean worked at the BYU Book Store in the receiving area and later promoted to the manager of the text book section. She was with BYU for over 30 years. She loved the students she worked with and trained. Jean enjoyed camping, making bread, sewing and dancing. However, her greatest love and joy of her life was spending time with her grandchildren. Friday night sleep overs and watching their sporting events were always top on her list. She enjoyed taking them with her to the cabin for the weekend.
Jean was proceeded in death by her husband, Daughter and grandson Ryan.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Chapel located at 50 South 750 West, in Orem with a viewing prior to the funeral at 9:45 - 10:45. Interment will be at the Orem City Cemetery.
