Beverly Jane Dallimore Ruggles' Obituary
Beverly Jane Dallimore Ruggles
Dutiful Daughter, Loyal Sister, Loving Wife, Dedicated Mother
June 29, 1932 – July 10, 2020
Our sweet mother, Beverly Jane Dallimore Ruggles, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, July 10, 2020 at the age of 88, surrounded by her loving family. Beverly was born on June 29, 1932 to Clarence James Dallimore and Minnie Mamie Hansen in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married Kay LeRoy Ruggles on September 20, 1952. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple on January 12, 1966. They shared 60 years together. Beverly graduated from South High School. She also attended the University of Utah. In her youth, she worked at Koepsel and Love, a car shop, and Auerbachs Bakery. Later on, she worked at Morris P. Kirk Co. When her husband, Kay, developed the Hydrotube Waterslides, Beverly owned and ran a small company, That’s The Ticket, where she produced vinyl waterslide ticket wristbands. She enjoyed this work and employed some of her children and grandchildren, so that they could learn the value of hard work. Beverly’s favorite and most rewarding work was raising her family. She was a wonderful homemaker. She found joy in baking, cooking, and sewing for her family. Many times, her children were greeted after school with homemade bread, cookies, or cinnamon rolls fresh from the oven. She was a very skilled seamstress and loved making clothes for herself and her children. She cherished her role as a mother and took it seriously. She taught her children life skills and wholesome values. She lovingly supported each of her children in their endeavors. She was also very proud of her children and their accomplishments. Beverly was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She earnestly served in many church callings in the Relief Society, Young Womens and Primary, as well as, serving as a Visiting Teacher and Relief Society President. She attended a weekly book club with friends, she often played the piano at the Highland Cove Care Center and was always looking for ways to brighten the lives of others. She always served with a happy heart and exemplified many Christlike attributes. Beverly had a great love for life. The highlight of her life was spending time with her family and friends. She spent Fridays with her two sisters eating lunch, making crafts, and having fun together. She was a world traveler and saw many wonders with Kay. She visited each of the fifty states and several foreign countries. Despite the many places she visited, she always had a special fondness for home. She especially enjoyed our annual Mother’s Day family trip to Park City, Utah. Beverly had a great passion for gardening and an amazing ‘green thumb’. She loved planting flowers and taking care of her beautiful yard and gardens. She found immense joy in watching plants grow and flourish. She had very high standards when it came to yard work. Many of her grandchildren learned to not only work hard, but to do quality work next to her in her garden. Beverly loved to crochet and has made countless beautiful hangers and scarves for her friends and family members. She crocheted lovely baby blankets for grandchildren and great-grandchildren. These hand-made items will be forever treasured. She loved piano music and was a great pianist. She passed that love along to her daughters and enjoyed playing duets with them. She also gave piano lessons to some of her grandchildren. Beverly enjoyed passing the time by putting puzzles together, playing games, coloring, watching Jeopardy, Hallmark movies and Jazz basketball games. She was a loyal Utah Jazz fan. Her favorite game was Rummikub. She was ecstatic when family would come over to play this game with her. No matter what time of day, she was always excited to play Rummikub. Over the last few months, she got a little creative in following the rules of the game. This amused the great-grandchildren immensely. Needless to say, she won often. Beverly had an eternal love and a deep devotion for her family. She served each of us unselfishly. The last two months of her life, her health drastically declined. Her five children had the privilege to serve her in return. We took turns staying in her home to care for her. Beverly was delighted and very grateful to have her children near. Beverly looked forward to our weekly Girl’s Night. We were able to reconnect and strengthen our bonds with Mom and each other. We will always cherish the memories of those special moments together. The evening before her passing, Beverly’s posterity gathered around her to show their love for her and say their goodbyes. Mom, thank you for all you have done for us. Thank you for all your love and kindness you have shown to each one of us. You are a remarkable lady and a beautiful daughter of God. We love you dearly and will miss you so much. We look forward to the day when we will be reunited. Survived by her children, Cary (Patsy), Nancy (Kevin), Carolyn (Mark), Bryan (Suzie), Lisa (Darrin); 22 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, David (Betsy); and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Kay; parents, Clarence and Mamie; four brothers, Leon, Eugene (Ruth), Jack (VaLois), Keith (Kathrine); two sisters, Thais (William), Diane (Burr); her sons, Mark and Bret; and grandchildren, Christopher, Stephanie and Michael.
