Beverly Jo Bell Williamson's Obituary
On August 25th we lost an incredible volunteer, friend, mother, and most importantly a grandmother. Beverly Bell Williamson passed away with her daughter Amber and dear friends by her side.
Beverly attended school all over the world as she traveled with her parents to her father’s military assignments overseas. She talked most fondly of the time the family spent in Pakistan. Beverly graduated from the University of Utah in 1971 with her kinesiology degree. She matriculated at the Utah school after her father was stationed at Hill Air Force Base. Following graduation, she taught Girls PE at Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant, Utah for two years.
Following her marriage to John Williamson they moved to California where their daughter Amber was born. Following their divorce, Bev lived in California many years. She worked with the March of Dimes and
other agencies that helped the handicapped while she earned a master’s degree in adaptive PE from California
State University Northridge. She and Amber moved back to Utah in 1989.
Beverly lived her life for others. When she moved back to Utah she found a remarkable bond with the Special Olympics community. She devoted every spare moment to every Olympian and their families. She fought for fairness, love, understanding and acceptance for each and every individual. She thrived as an Adaptive PE teacher for 40 years, while coaching the Davis Angels Special Olympics team.
Bev was also a life-long Girl Scout, and she was ordained a deacon in the Presbyterian Church. She had a particular fondness for poodles and owned four of them.
Bev was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Doris Bell. She is survived by her daughter Amber, her husband Heinrich, their four children, Grace, Dominique, Christian, William and her brother Barry.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, September 28th at 10:30 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Centerville, Utah at 1131 S. Main Street, Centerville, Utah
