Birdie Lynne Butterfield's Obituary
Birdie Lynne Butterfield of West Jordan, Utah has left us on December 31, 2023, at the age of 88. Birdie was born March 17, 1935 to Harriet and Harrold Johnson in Salt Lake, Utah. Birdie married Charles Thayne Butterfield on March 6, 1965 and together they built a safe and secure home for their children and grandchildren.
Birdie was a wonderful woman who was loved by everyone who knew her and dedicated her life to helping others. She was a kind soul and devoted animal lover who always had a furry companion who she loved like her children. Her love language was food; she always offered snacks, candy, or treats to visitors, and pets, without hesitation. She worked for United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) for over 25 years caring for the disabled, before her retirement in 2013, and built many lasting friendships during her time there. Birdie loved sewing and knitting, and cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren deeply, she always ensured every new addition to the family had a handmade blanket upon their arrival. Birdie was a pillar of stability for her family and her loss is felt greatly by her children, grandchildren, and pets.
Birdie was preceded in death by her husband Charlie, daughters Leslie and Kitt, sons Shawn and Doug, and granddaughter Shauntae, who she raised. She is survived by her daughter Nicole Porter, sons Steve Henline and Thayne Butterfield, daughter-in-law Tony, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her loving pets Fred and Maggie.
Thank you to APlus Healthcare at Home for the hospice support and House Call Doctors, Trenaisa Nay and crew, for their care of Birdie over the past year.
Birdie was cremated on January 4, 2024 by Premier Funeral Services, as per Birdie’s request no funeral or memorial services will be held.
