Our thoughts and prayers are with the Stock family as they mourn the passing of their father. My recollections of Boyd (who I always knew as "Bishop Stock") date back to the 1960's in Midland, Michigan. He was the bishop when I turned 12 and he interviewed me to be ordained a Deacon. He was also responsible for giving me my first calling in the church, which changed my life. As a newly ordained 12-year-old, I was called to play the piano for priesthood meeting. I had taken piano lessons as a young child but quit, and hadn't touched the instrument in several years. With that new calling, I had to start playing again. And I've had the chance to play the piano and organ in church settings for more than 50 years now. So I'm grateful for that small but profound influence Bishop Stock had on my life.
