A Celebration of Life
Early Life and Education:
Braden Lee Holmes was born on December 2, 1998, in Layton, Utah, to Wayne Keith Holmes and Lisa Barnett. He attended Whittier grade school in Salt Lake City, and developed a passion for the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and sports at an early age. In 2015, Braden accomplished a significant milestone by taking his first and only deer. Although he was not enrolled at Weber High, he was on the wrestling team during his freshman year and later attended Pineview High, where he lettered in Wrestling, placing in State during his junior year. He was also a member of the Cross Country Team.
Braden participated in both school and church choirs, showcasing his love for music. He excelled academically, consistently participating in advanced classes and achieving great success. Braden was known for his big heart, infectious smile, and charming personality, becoming a flirt from an early age. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Army to pursue a career as a medic. Braden enjoyed cooking and dreamed of owning his own food truck. He cherished his role as an uncle and believed himself to be the favorite among his nieces and nephews. Braden was determined and believed he could accomplish anything he set his mind to. He also liked collecting Pokémon and Yu-gi-oh cards!
Family and Upbringing:
Braden spent his childhood and teenage years alongside his older brother, Dyllan, being raised by their single father in the home of their paternal grandmother, Pat. The household was filled with love, mutual respect, and an expectation of good manners. Grandma Pat was both fun-loving and firm, caring deeply for all her grandchildren. Through her, Braden developed his passion for music. He was recognized as a sweet, loving, caring, and intelligent young man, gifted with numbers and possessing a great memory. Braden was always ready to help those in need. In recent times, he enjoyed rapping, singing, and sharing playful moments with his mother. He worked diligently at his place of employment, striving to achieve his goals. Despite challenges, Braden remained positive and consistently sought to uplift others with hope and inspiration.
Passing and Legacy:
Braden passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2026, leaving a profound void in the hearts of all who loved him. His family cherished him deeply and will miss him immensely.
Surviving Family and Special Relationships:
Braden is survived by his father, Wayne; his mother, Lisa; older brothers, Jake (Marianne), Jason (Hanna), and Dyllan Holmes; nieces and nephews, Carson, Dallas, Brighton, Sawyer, Elijah, Kinsley, Cruz, Dash, and Paisley Holmes. Maternal Grandmother “Tip” Chalermsri Nooprasertb Basham; uncles, aunts, and cousins. He is also survived by a special woman whom he loved as a second mother, Debra Dixon Fowler. The five brothers found joy in gathering at the Fowler home, where they treasured time spent together, sharing laughter, playing backyard games, card and board games, attending Dixon family reunions, and relishing each other's company.
Those Who Have Passed:
Braden was preceded in death by his grandmother, Patsy Dooley Henderson, who provided a loving and nurturing homethroughout his childhood and youth. He was also preceded by his Aunt Debbie Annice Holmes and his eldest brother, Jared Wayne Holmes. The family finds comfort in imagining the joyful reunion they are now experiencing.
Celebration of Life and Message to Others:
The family will hold a private Celebration of Life in honor of Braden. They encourage anyone struggling with addiction, regardless of its nature, to seek professional help. If you know someone facing addiction, please reach out to them to help prevent heartache for another family member.
