Brandon Tyler Lingwall's Obituary
Brandon Tyler Lingwall was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on January 7th, 1973. Unbeknownst to his mother, she was carrying twins, and he was the second child born on that day. From day one, there was something incredible about Brandon’s soul. He came out of the womb with kindness and compassion.
Brandon attended Union Middle School for junior high. He described 8th grade as “probably the most important time of my life. That was the first year I learned how to snowboard, and my soccer team won the Commissioner’s Cup.” Brandon loved anything outdoors. From a young age, he was playing in canals and tree houses, snowboarding, skateboarding, and then he discovered his love for jeeps. This love led him to Moab, where he would spend some of the best days of his life. This is also around the time he met the love of his life, Sarah. Brandon and Sarah were married in 1999 and gave birth to an amazing little boy named Tyler in 2005.
At the age of 26, Brandon was diagnosed with MS. This diagnosis certainly changed some of the physical abilities of Brandon, but it did not change his compassion, empathy, or his incredibly dry sense of humor.
Towards the end of his life, Brandon met a social worker named Brenna that changed the axis of his life. She suggested he write a letter about his experience, and she would hike it up a mountain and leave it there for others to read. This started “For Brandon’s Love”. Soon enough, there were hundreds of letters and photos of Brandon traveling the world. Through this letter, Brandon has been to Machu Picchu, Kilimanjaro, Stonehenge, the top of Everest, and almost every peak in Utah. Through this experience, Brandon and his family met some of the most amazing humans to exist. This letter provided a hope for Brandon, that prior to this, he was unable to obtain.
We want to thank some of his most amazing supporters. Sarah Lingwall for always loving and supporting him and remaining one of his best friends until the end. Brenna, Mike Jackson, Daniella, Krystina, Brandon and Bri, Ryan, Chris, Samual, Janna and Harry, George, Jace, and of course “the boys” (Walsh, Brady, Kevin, Stephen, John, Kirk and Nate). I’m sorry if we forgot anyone but please know that everyone who spoke with Brandon made a life changing impact on all of us.
Brandon is survived by his son Tyler, mother Nonnie, father Marty, twin sister Shannon and her fiancé Kevin Gates, and baby sister Ashley and brother in law Robbie Bills.
