Brent Alan Lindsay's Obituary
Brent Alan Lindsay, 76, unexpectedly, but peacefully passed away on July 24, 2022. He was surrounded by his wife, Sharon, and several children and grandchildren.
Born June 18, 1946, in Rigby, Idaho, Brent spent his younger years farming spuds, grain and hay with his family. At the age of 8, his family moved to Ririe, Idaho, where he milked cows, farmed spuds, finished out his schooling (barely), and enjoyed blowing things up with his buddies as well as pranking the town cop. Ever the jokester, Brent always kept those around him laughing.
Brent had a diverse and interesting work life. As a cartographer, he travelled through the Arizona desert taking accurate measurements and creating maps. During the Vietnam war, Brent served his country in the Air Force maintaining vital communications equipment. Upon discharge, Brent installed and repaired high-end audio systems, followed by a stint repairing electronic cash registers. In his early twenties, he was recruited into the emerging computer industry, where he would be a pioneer in computer chip design. He worked on many groundbreaking and important projects including one of the first hand-held calculators (now in the Smithsonian), a chip in the first stealth bomber, and the Intel 286, 386, and 486 chips found in early IBM computers. Though he never enrolled in college himself, he taught computer chip design at Utah Valley University for a time.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as a member of a bishopric, a member of an Elders Quorum presidency, and a Scout Master, among various other callings. Throughout his life, he always enjoyed serving in the temple, including as a temple worker during the early 2000s.
Brent married Margie K Lindsay in April of 1970 and was the loving father to four girls. Divorced in 2007, Brent met and married Sharon Lynn Peterson in August of 2008.
Brent is survived by:
• his three siblings--Louise Zones, Jimmy Lindsay and Kenny Lindsay
• his wife, Sharon, her son and two daughters and five grandchildren
• his first wife, Margie Ott, and their four daughters--TaShera Jenkins, Nicole Stirling, Karen Lindsay and Tiffany Floyd--and their seven grandchildren
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 30th, 11:00 am at the Northmoor Ward, 4338 E. Iverness Lane, Eagle Mountain. A viewing will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 am prior to services.
