My best Christmases ever, were the ones spent at your house Brian. Braaivleis, tons of food, and watermelon! Then after we ate, we had those watermelon rind fights. We were so sticky.. but then we’d go swimming. Perfect Christmas. And then the huge fires on Guy Fawkes night!! They were and still are some of my best memories. Always gonna love you Brian..you are, and will always be my best cousin ever!
Brian used to live next door to us. He did mechanic work out of his garage. His booming voice would ricochet off the house across the street from him. We could stand on our front porch and hear every word he said! Our favorite: "You can't put a Chevy engine in a Ford truck!" Our second: "Matta of fact..."

Dear Leslie and family, I suppose my tribute and memories of Brian will be a bit different from most of the others. I know Brian and love hime very much. I first met Brian when he was around 11 years old in South Africa. Brian's father, I. C. Louw, was a Counselor to the Mission President, President Fisher. President Louw was a true friend to all the Missionaries, and because we were close to President Louw we became well acquainted and close to his family. One day President and Sister Louw invited all the missionaries in the East Rand District out to their home for dinner and a day of fun, play, and relaxation. Brian took charge of the play and taught all go us missionaries how to play rugby and cricket. We soon found out that when you play with Brian, you don't just goof around but rather you get serious and do your best. We had a wonderful day and the best part of it was that we made a great friendship with a young boy in South Africa that was to last for a lifetime. I met Brian when my family moved in down the street from him. I owned a restaurant at the time and Brian built some banquets for me. He was constantly trying to help me as I worked on the restaurants. He would come in for lunch and see we were having a problem and would just come back to help, whether that meant fixing an oven or welding a table. What a wonderful man. I loved being around Brian and will miss him. I'm sad to hear of his passing and grateful that I had the opportunity to come in contact with him. He is such a great man.

Shawn and I will forever treasure the memories of the time that you and Brian spent with us in South Africa and our travels with you both when we visited the USA. Shawn loved his WhatsApp calls with Brian. He will live in our hearts and memories until we meet him on the other side. So grateful for eternal family links. My favorite memory of Brian goes back to the year we took out a tree on the Meyers/Paulson property. He could see us struggling, went home, got his chain saw, and pitched in to fill not just my truck, but his truck too with the many branches and trunk pieces. We both took a trip to the dump that day--Brian was always about service! What a great man--one who will be deeply missed in our neighborhood.
I've known and loved Brian Louw for 41 years. When I heard of his passing, it was a blow to me and a cause of great grief. But I've never thought of Brian without smiling, so I'm smiling now as I remember him. There was no end to how he and I teased each other. When I last spoke with him a couple of weeks ago, we discovered that we both had the same taste in cheap Hawaiian shirts. I think of him now in the spirit world, with his big laugh, telling stories to his ancestors, who were awaiting his arrival with excitement.
A great guy who lived and loved life to it's fullest. Nothing but fond and cherished memories of a great man. You will be missed! RIP
