Dear Leslie and family, I suppose my tribute and memories of Brian will be a bit different from most of the others. I know Brian and love hime very much. I first met Brian when he was around 11 years old in South Africa. Brian's father, I. C. Louw, was a Counselor to the Mission President, President Fisher. President Louw was a true friend to all the Missionaries, and because we were close to President Louw we became well acquainted and close to his family. One day President and Sister Louw invited all the missionaries in the East Rand District out to their home for dinner and a day of fun, play, and relaxation. Brian took charge of the play and taught all go us missionaries how to play rugby and cricket. We soon found out that when you play with Brian, you don't just goof around but rather you get serious and do your best. We had a wonderful day and the best part of it was that we made a great friendship with a young boy in South Africa that was to last for a lifetime. Leslie, I send sincere condolences from my family to yours. With love, Ruel Barker
