Bruce Dean Blanke's Obituary
Bruce Dean Blanke
1958 - 2021
Bruce Dean Blanke, 63 of Sandy, UT passed away suddenly of a fatal medical event, on Wednesday, October 27th, 2021 at his home.
Bruce was born on August 9th, 1958 in Santa Ana, California to Dolly Jean and Paul Vernon Blanke. He had four siblings; Bonnie, Jerry, Joan, and Paul “Bink.” He married Robin Hutchinson Blanke, the mother of his two children, on February 15th, 1986 in Orange, California.
He was incredibly knowledgeable about anything he took an interest in. After working in photo-development at Gerards Photo for several years, he and his family moved to Salt Lake City, UT where he and Robin opened and ran two photo labs, Film Factory and Pro Photo. When those ventures ended, he went on to work at Murray Parkway Golf Course where he remained employed for the last twenty years of his life. Initially a course Marshal, Bruce eventually studied and played to become the Assistant Golf Pro, a career he took immense pride in. We know he left a lasting impact on his colleagues; a group we know became like his family. We also acknowledge the countless members of the community who undoubtedly enjoyed interacting with Bruce at the golf course. Bruce was such a hard worker and provider, creating a great life for his family. When it came to being a Dad, that’s what he was best at. He was his daughters’ biggest cheerleader. He never missed a practice or a game; whether it be soccer or softball. The many outings to Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, the beach, sports events, boating, camping, shopping… you name it… he did it all with his daughters and loved every second of it. His sense of humor was always the life of the party. His laugh was incredibly contagious and unforgettable. Bruce was also an avid animal lover. His tender-heartedness for animals is why his home always had pets, and they were so loved, not to mention spoiled. Bruce also loved cars. Whether they were German (Audi & BMW specifically), American Muscle, or whatever, he really loved his cars and shared that passion with his daughter, Courtney. An avid Lakers and Dodgers fan, he instilled a love of many sports within his daughters and sports remained some of his greatest hobbies in life. He could find most-anything to connect with others about; his many interests and seemingly endless knowledge left him with plenty to converse about in any setting. He was the light in a dark room and will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his two proud daughters; Courtney Archer and Jacquie Symes and their husbands; Daniel Archer and Colyn Symes who all adored him. His former wife and forever best friend Robin Blanke. His father Paul Vernon Blanke, Sr. Brothers: Jerry Blanke and Paul Blanke, Jr. Nieces: April, Janell, Sabrina, Brittany, and Caitlin. Nephews: Brian, Cody, Jesse, Christian, Stephen, Kiley, and Billy. His brother-in-law Bill Hutchinson and wife Sharon, and sister-in-law Maletta Lindley and husband Rick. He is survived by his dear friends at Murray Parkway Golf Course: John Pearson, Larry, Shane, Ed, Bob, Avery, John, Joe, Chuck, Mike, Guy, Niko, Anthony, Bruce D., Shane, Swaggy, Phil, Gary L., Charles, Giano, Tino, Preston, Brian, Gary (Retired), as well as dearly departed Sam and Grant.
He is also survived by his grandpups Brembo, Pepper, Scout, and Hazel.
He is preceded in death by his sisters Joanie and Bon. His mother, Dolly - who we lovingly referred to as “Faraway Granny.” Billie Lee Hutchinson and his fur children Bianca, Cooper, and Gator.
To his many other friends; we acknowledge how much he loved you and you know your status in his heart. We know we will be able to see and speak with each of you at his service or at a later time when we are able to connect.
