Bruce Raymond Payne peacefully passed away on May 7, 2025, at the age of 78, surrounded by his beloved wife and family.
Born on May 9, 1946, in Brigham City, Utah, Bruce was the only son of Raymond and Elva Payne and grew up with four adoring sisters. He graduated from Box Elder High School in 1964 and later earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Weber State University.
On April 14, 1973, Bruce married his sweetheart, Carol Jean Harris, in the Ogden, Utah Temple. Together, they were blessed with three spirited daughters and built a loving home in Perry, Utah, where they lived for 27 years.
Bruce found joy in working on his fruit farm, riding motorcycles, and traveling with his family. He served on the Perry City Council and held various callings in his church. Bruce was known for his loyalty and dedication. He was a hard-working and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol; his daughters Brooklynn Weight (Tyler) and Chontel Burger (Don); eight grandchildren: Zen, Tyson, Brittney, and Shaylee Weight, and Jonathan, Sean, Xander, and Lorenzo Burger; two great-grandchildren, Willow and Theodore Weight; and two sisters Carol Jean Bishop and Joyce Baron.
Bruce was preceded in death by his daughter, Heatherly Payne; his parents; and two of his sisters, Jarilyn Willie and Kathleen Glauser.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Sagewood at Daybreak in South Jordan, Utah. Interment will follow at the Brigham City Cemetery.
