Bruce Allan Thompson's Obituary
Bruce Allan Thompson was born March 21, 1959 in Salt Lake City, Utah to William Hooper Thompson and Norma Eileen Pyper, and passed away October 10, 2025 in Millcreek, Utah after a short illness.
Bruce worked at various jobs throughout his life—including digitizing maps for the Bureau of Land Management, working in a food processing plant, working as a custodian at the Clark Planetarium, and delivering auto parts and glass, and finally, working as a crossing guard for Salt Lake City Cooperation where he loved greeting children and parents on their daily walks to and from school.
Bruce was especially interested in geology and loved visiting the redrock country of southern Utah hunting for arches, fossils, and dinosaur tracks. His neighbors thought highly of him saying he was always friendly. Bruce had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and did his best to live by its standards. He served a mission to Boston, Massachusetts from 1978 to 1980 and held many church callings. He also achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and served as a volunteer Merit Badge Counselor for the Scouting Organization.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Brian. He is survived by his siblings William David Thompson (Deanna Price), Elisabeth Long (Keith), and James Warren Thompson (Linda Tyler), his daughter Jessica LaRee Thompson, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 11:00 AM at 3750 South Hillside Lane, Millcreek, Utah, 84109. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the funeral (10:00 AM).
