We had great memories of our old dear friend, Bryon. We served the same mission in Oakland, California. We had sat together numerous times and talked about our silly and funny things we did on our mission. We laughed our hearts out. Bryon was my husband ‘s mission companion and our best man at our wedding. We attended BYU together. We cherish Bryon’s friendship and great examples. We are sorry that we didn’t see the funeral announcement in time to attend his service and say our last goodbye. But Bryon’s great smile and spirit will always stay vivid in our hearts and minds.

It is such a shock to see the news of the loss of a wonderful human being. Bryon was my college roommate, giving me the chance to know one of the kindest, funniest, and most supportive people I have ever known. He was a wisened veteran to BYU when I was randomly assigned to his room as a very recently returned missionary, and my life was brightened and uplifted by that happenstance (once I learned to interpret the proper level of dryness of his humor!). He recognized even before I did how wonderful my wife would be for me, and I always appreciated that he was as good a friend to her as he was to me.
I also believe it was also through Bryon that I got the chance to work at the school library, which remains an experience I look back on with great fondness. The world is a lesser place for this loss.

I was blessed to be companions with Bryon, in the California Oakland Mission. Beyond was assistant to the President at the time. What a great example of what a missionary should be like. I witnessed him touch, not only other missionaries, but our investigators. The spirit he brought while he taught will forever be engrained in my memory. Such a humble man with true Christlike love. May the Lord bless and comfort you all, through this difficult time.

My heart hurts. The sole reason that I served a mini mission within my own home mission was because of Bryon. The dear friends I cherish, in the California Oskland Mission are a direct trickle down from Bryon's forever love and dedication...go ye now in peace

I have only known Bryon and his wife Deborah since they moved into our ward. The day that stands out for me was March 27, 2021 when all of his family and friends in the area gathered in the Barnard’s front yard to celebrate his completion of Chemo. We cheered and danced as he sat on his porch beaming from ear to ear. Little did we know that in less than four months his life would be taken by the Covid Virus. My heart is saddened that such a good man would leave this earth so soon when he had so much more to give.
