I took Advanced Wood Shop from Mr. Ashby at Dixon Jr. High in about 1973. I will always remember him and that class. He gave us a lot of freedom to experiment and learn.

Jeremys Grandpa was an amazing guy, he was sweet to everyone an he always made me feel so welcome and love. When I was learning to drive, I was so scare and Jeremy wasnt happy with me because I crashed in to Grandpas fence, and here comes grandpa with his walker and a smile telling me that it was ok because everyone has crashed in to the fence. That this just means Im part of the family. Another favorite memory is when I took Grandpa on a ride to pick up some plants for his garden, me and him just spend the afternoon together and then I took him to dinner after it was such an amazing day. I love Grandpa and I will miss him alot. I know he loves Jeremy and me and our pets even know they digged his garden hhahaha!! And we love him rest in peace grandpa ❤️
My parents are finally reunited. Dad often spoke of my Mom, and came to appreciate her more and more with each passing day. They were great parents and taught me the value of hard work, determination, faith, communication, and compassion.
My dad was a big softie, despite his seemingly rough exterior. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and they were blessed to know him. He enjoyed their visits, playing games with them, and telling them stories.
He will be remembered for his life of dedicated service, his sense of humor, and for his widespread influence. Most of all, he will be remembered for being a great dad.
Back in high school, I had to give up my room for my brother and his new wife. Which meant I slept on the couch in the front room. I had no space for my clothes, I went to Brother Ashby and asked him if he could help me make some wood boxes to put in the front room closet... He quickly went to his scrap pile, and within 30 mins he had created 3 boxes for me, and wouldn't even let me pay him for them. I have always been grateful for his generosity!

I just want to reach out to the Ashby family and tell you how sorry I am to hear about your dad’s passing. He was my wood shop teacher at Dixon Junior High a long time ago. In fact I went to school with Kent (son) and I grew up on Grandview Hill. Your dad had a profound effect on me that I have used my entire life. He taught me many life lessons in the wood shop. He helped me learn woodworking and enabled me to win awards at the Utah Industrial Arts Fair. I have used the skills I learned from your dad my entire life building houses and finishing basements and doing many other projects. Looking back on my education in junior high and high school there were only a handful of teachers that touched me and had a profound effect on me in the classroom. Your dad was one of those handful. I am grateful for all of his teaching and help that he provided me.

Give Mom a hug for us Dad. I'll miss being able to sit and chat with you about all my projects and gardening questions. Thank you for everything you taught me and more importantly, thank you for being such a good example of service. You emulated the Savior in all you did. We all miss you terribly, but we also know how happy you must be being reunited with all the family that went before you. Love you!
