Captain John Smith Jr's Obituary
Captain John Smith Jr. affectionately known as John John and Unc, was born on September 29, 1973, in Kansas City, Kansas, and passed away on December 24, 2024, in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the age of 51.
Captain was a vibrant and creative entrepreneur with a passion for uplifting others. A natural giver, he shared ideas and opportunities to help those around him succeed, often emphasizing growth over past mistakes. Known for his quick wit and memorable sayings like "Stay in your lane so you don't miss your exit," Captain left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
An early entrepreneur, Captain began selling candy and magazines in grade school to help fund his education and later went on to promote events and manage artists. He founded and supported numerous ventures, including Mack Me Down Productions, DAD (Dedicated and Devoted), FourC Consulting, and the CapHeart Foundation, which advocated for individuals living with heart conditions.
As a server by profession, Captain approached his work with joy and purpose, viewing it as an opportunity to serve people and create meaningful experiences beyond simply providing meals.
Captain was a devout Seventh-Day Adventist whose faith guided his life and inspired those around him. He
cherished his family and community, often expressing that his greatest fear was living without God in his life.
Captain was survived by Brigette Smith. mother of his children: Christopher, Cahner, Cameryn, and Captain John III; siblings Catherin (Harry) Washington, Brenda Kelly, Maurice (Ethel) Smith), Linda (Marshall) Wright, Gerald Williams, and V. Michelle Sublett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Captain John Smith Sr. and Ada Louise Smith, and brothers Larry Wright, Alvin Smith, and Marshall Wright. Captain will be remembered for his boundless energy, creative spirit, and commitment to living life fully.
