Carma Joyce Harris Avery's Obituary
Carma Joyce Avery
1935 - 2023
Carma Joyce Avery passed away in the early morning of May 19, 2023, 5 days after her 88th birthday.
Carma lived a full life, devoted to her family, her friends, and her faith. As a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she served in many positions, and she enjoyed every one, from Relief Society President to Seminary Teacher. She was known for her cooking, and enjoyed feeding anyone she could. In fact, there are several scrapbook pages devoted to her many ribbons from the Washington state fair. It wasn't uncommon for her to go on the hunt for interesting things in nature. Many grandkids are still in the habit of pocketing a pussywillow bud, a curly willow stick, or colorful leaf due to her love of collecting pretty pieces of nature. No summer was complete without a trip to the marsh to find some cattails.
Her memory will live on in the hearts and kitchens of her children, Lloyd (Carol) Avery, Donna Avery Hausner, and Paula (John) Oakley, along with her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchild. Carma is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Clair Avery. After so many years together, we're all comforted knowing they are together again.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Thursday, May 25, 2023 at the Edgemont 11th Ward, 3050 North Mojave Lane, Provo, Utah where a viewing will be from 9:45 am to 10:45 am. Interment at East Lawn Cemetery, Provo, Utah.
