Carol Ann Cook Cheney's Obituary
Carol Ann Cook Cheney was born on 9-22-44 to Jesse Cook and Mildred King Jeffery Cook in Idaho Falls, ID. She passed away on Sunday 1/5/25. Carol started playing the piano at five years old, continuing until 11th grade. Carol was practically an only child as her older half-siblings had all moved away by the time she was 12. She spent her youth as a farmhand on her father’s farm and woke every morning at 4:30 am to milk the cows. She was the church organist from the time she was 11 until she told the Bishop “NO MORE” at age 79.
Carol graduated from Westminster College with a BS in Elementary Education, Church Music and lacked one credit hour of a BS in Physical Education. She received her MED at the University of Utah. After 13 years of teaching, Carol married Frank Cheney in 1980 and raised her two children to school age. At that point, she went into medical transcription (the best job in the world) and retired in 2006 from Cottonwood Hospital.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Mildred Cook, her husband Frank Cheney, and her half-brother, Doug Cook. She is survived by her half-sister Carleen Cook, half-brother Wayne Cook (Cath), and her exceptional children, Alexis Cheney (Brian Rands) and Nicholas Cheney.
Funeral services will be held at Pebble Hills LDS Church at 8735 Harvard Park Dr, Sandy UT 84094 on Saturday, January 18th. There will be viewing from 10:00 to 10:45 AM and a program honoring her life from 11:00 to 12:00 PM.
