Carol Anne Stout's Obituary
Carol Anne Stout (Grammy) returned to her heavenly home on December 26, 2023 an hour
before her 75th birthday. Grammy was a strong and stubborn lady who lived life on her terms
and passed away on her own terms surprising everyone with her strength and endurance.
Grammy and her twin brother George, were born to Beth Glines Brown and George Delbert
Barnes on December 27, 1948. They lived with their grandparents Adelia Delila Glines and
Horace Little Brown until they were six years old. This was a happy time in her life and Grammy
always remembered her time with her grandparents very fondly. Not long after, Beth married
Donald Hansen and along came her little sister Annabel.
Grammy grew up and learned to work hard. She began working at the age of 16 and retired
from the same company after 45 years of service. During this time she married, divorced and
raised her two daughters Christina Marie Stout and Chere Michelle Sylvester on her own, giving
the girls a charmed childhood.
Grammy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many
positions in the church from Primary teacher to Relief Society President. She also served a
mission with the Church Employment Services. Many of her closest friendships were made
while serving the Lord.
The highlight of her life was her grandsons, Colby Michael Sylvester and Tyson John Sylvester.
She loved these boys so much. They made her so proud! Growing up, Grammy never let the
girls put pins in the walls of their bedrooms, put any pictures on the fridge, and all the walls in
the house had to be painted white. Once the boys came along all this changed. All the walls
changed colors, the fridge is so full of pictures of the boys you can hardly see it, and anything
that the boys wanted to put on the walls could be hung up. She totally loved the boys way more
than her own girls. We, the girls, are so totally okay with that! For somebody who didn’t like
sports, when her grandsons began to play she became a sports fanatic and attended their
games regularly. The boys brought so much love and joy to her!
Grammy was preceded in death by her twin brother George Dale Barnes (Carol), mother Beth
Hansen (Donald), and her beloved grandparents. She leaves behind her daughters, Christina
Marie Stout, Chere Michelle Sylvester, her grandsons Colby and Tyson, and her sister Annabel
Ivie (Dan).
Grammy’s viewing will be held on January 2, 2024 from 6 - 8pm at Premier Funeral Services, 67
East 8000 South, Salt Lake City, Utah. Her grave dedication is Wednesday, January 3, 2024,
10:00 am at Memorial Redwood 6500 South Redwood Rd. West Jordan, Utah. Grammy loved
flowers which would be welcomed. Many thanks are extended to everyone who loved and
cared for Grammy at the end of her life. We love and appreciate you!
