Carol Ann Thurgood, a beloved wife, sister, aunt, farmer, and animal lover, passed away on June 3, 2023, at the age of 79. She was born on April 3, 1944, to the parents Dominic V. J. Errigo and Eunice Hill. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Steven J. Errigo, and husband, Maurice D. Thurgood. Carol is survived by her brother, David Errigo, three stepchildren, Patsy Matthews, Janet Porritt and Sandra Parrill, five nieces and one nephew. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
On June 19, 1965, Carol married the love of her life, Maurice D. Thurgood. Together, they embarked on a remarkable journey as farmers, cultivating a prosperous farm in West Point, Utah. Their dedication and hard work resulted in a thriving enterprise that was admired by the community.
Carol had a special affinity for animals and cherished every creature she encountered. From her horses to peacocks, geese to cats, her farm was a haven for various animals. However, it was her beloved poodles that held a special place in her heart. Carol bred, raised, and cared for them as if they were her own children and cherished members of the family.
Although Carol and Maurice did not have children of their own together, Carol's love also extended to her stepchildren, nieces and nephew, whom she adored. She eagerly anticipated their visits and showered them with affection and attention. Carol's warm and nurturing nature touched the lives of many, creating lasting memories and leaving an indelible impact on those fortunate enough to know her.
In her younger years, Carol possessed not only a caring soul but also remarkable beauty. She won several beauty contests, proudly displaying her achievements as she rode on horseback in parades. Alongside her husband, Carol excelled in various competitions, securing numerous first-place prizes for their antique farm equipment, majestic horses, and bountiful produce. Their shared accomplishments were a testament to their unwavering dedication and passion.
In addition to her love for animals, Carol had a passion for crocheting and reading. She was incredibly talented and spent many hours creating beautiful pieces that she would often donate to those in need or gift to her close family and friends. Her love for reading was evident in the vast collection of books she amassed over the years.
Despite becoming a private person in her later years, those who had the privilege of knowing Carol closely understood the immense kindness that resided within her. She possessed a heart of gold and radiated warmth and compassion to those she held dear.
Carol Ann Thurgood leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of life. As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the countless lives she touched. Her memory will forever be etched in our hearts.
