Carole Lynn Larsen Christensen's Obituary
Carole Lynn Larsen Christensen, 81, of Orem, Utah, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025 after a gradual decline from Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born on August 5, 1943, in Culver City, California to Melba Cordelia Poulter and John Willard Larsen. Carole graduated from Culver City High School and went on to attend Brigham Young University, earning a business technician degree. She then married James Calvin Christensen in the Los Angeles, California Temple. They lived in Provo, Utah for a short time, after which they moved back to Southern California, spending a few years in Santa Maria. Returning to Utah, they lived in American Fork for a few years, finally settling in Orem for over four decades. They were married for fifty wonderful years and had five beloved children.
Carole was classy. She loved to travel all over the world and see beautiful things. Gathering her loved ones and entertaining in her home often was one of her greatest strengths. She was a wonderful mother; caring, supportive, and loving. In her second half of life she very effectively ran James’ art business and deserves a good deal of credit for his success. She loved to dance, loved the sun and the beach, fresh flowers, and chocolate. Carole was blessed to have wonderful, life-long friends to whom she was very devoted.
She is survived by her five children, Cassandra Christensen Barney (Glen Rollins), Joshua James Christensen (Lisa Jones Christensen), Sarianne Christensen Sorenson (Erik Sorenson), Peter James Christensen (Jennie Allen Christensen), and Emily Christensen McPhie (Gavin McPhie); as well as her fifteen precious grandchildren; and her brothers Tom Larsen and Kris Larsen (Cindy). She was preceded in death by her husband James C. Christensen, sister-in-law Linda Larsen, and her parents John and Melba Larsen.
A celebration of Carole’s life will be at 12:30 PM on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the LDS church, 500 S 600 W St, Orem, UT. A reception will be help prior to the memorial from 10:30-12:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the scholarship that Carole and James set up for aspiring artists.
Carole’s love, generosity and unwavering faith will be cherished and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
