My grandma was one of those people you don’t forget kind, loving, and completely herself in every way. She had the biggest heart and the funniest quirks. She never worried about what anyone thought, and honestly, that’s one of the things I admired most about her. She could make you laugh without even trying she’d just be her, unapologetically, and that was enough. She was a total hoot, and she absolutely loved her owls.
Some of my favorite memories are the simple ones. After long days, if I ever stayed over, she’d make sure I had something to eat usually a sandwich, made with care like only she could. It didn’t matter how tired she was, she always took care of the people around her. If there were dishes in the sink, she’d quietly wash them. If something needed to be done, she just did it. That was her way of loving people through the little things that meant everything.
She loved her Coca-Colas, her routines, the color red, her roses, and her family. She gave so much of herself without ever asking for anything in return.
It breaks my heart knowing she won’t get to see my kids grow up, and they won’t get to meet her and experience just how special she was. They would have loved her, just like everyone else did. But I hope, in some way, they’ll know her through the stories I tell and the love she passed down.
I miss her more than I can put into words. I love her always, and I’ll carry her with me in everything I do.
