Carolyn Dee Morrison's Obituary
Carolyn Dee Morrison, age 87, passed away on February 25, 2023. Carolyn was born on August 22, 1935 to Wayne L. Clark and Francis Stahl Clark in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Carolyn was a curious and adventurous child, spending much of her time exploring and learning with her older sister Jerralyn Eva and younger brother Robert (Bob).
At the age of 18, Carolyn met a “dark and curly haired man of strong stature, and kind eyes.” Smitten with his compassion and love, Carolyn married Jack R. Cook in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on December 11, 1953. Jack and Carolyn went on to have seven children; Deanna, John, Jacolyn, Cindy, Bryan, Evan and Brenda.
After Jack’s sudden passing in 1974, Carolyn struggled to find peace. She dedicated much of her time to her children and grandchildren.
Jean L. Morrison and Carolyn were married on March 23, 1989, and spent 28 years together until Jean passed away in 2017.
Over the years, Carolyn also found respite in the liberal arts; including music, drawing, painting, poetry, and writing. She sang in many choirs, wrote her own cookbook, and spent much of her time deeply concentrated on the endless possibilities offered by a blank canvas.
Carolyn was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, an avid drawer and painter, and found her greatest inspiration from God and nature.
Because of her passion for art, Carolyn pursued higher education with a Bachelor of Arts from Weber State University, and received her diploma in 2010 at the age of 74. She then continued to create art, and went on to become a lifelong learner at Weber State University.
Carolyn enjoyed gardening, camping, the sights and sounds of nature, and her favorite smell in all the world was the smoke from a campfire.
Carolyn is survived by her seven children, twenty-three grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by Jack R. Cook, Jerralyn Taylor, Robert (Bob) Clark, and Jean L. Morrison.
In lieu of flowers, Carolyn asked that donations be sent to the Department of Visual Arts and Design, Weber State University: 1265 Village Drive, Dept 4018 ~ Ogden, UT 84407. Attention: Kristian Wojciechowski, (801) 626-7209.
