Cathie Marie Child's Obituary
Cathie Marie Child passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family and loved
ones on August 21, 2025. Cathie was 76 years old. She was treasured by all who knew her.
Her positivity, perseverance, and wisdom were unmatched. She truly loved all whom she
encountered. Cathie lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication
to family and friends. She touched the lives of many through her compassion and warmth.
Cathie was born on June 11,1949, in San Jose, California to Robert Ray Kone and Delone
Suhrke Kone. They later relocated to Utah when she was 14. Cathie was a successful
Therapist and Social Worker and touched many lives with her knowledge, expertise, and
compassion. She loved her career in Social Work and took pride in her work ethic. Cathie
worked for Valley Mental Health in West Valley City, then she received her master’s degree
in psychology, and then she finished out her career at Weber Human Services in Ogden,
Utah.
Cathie is survived by her beloved husband Stan Child, her children Joseph Melfi, Jenna
Melfi, Tyrell Child, and Kresta Child Wilcox (Brad Wilcox), her seven grandchildren, Bohdi
Child, Naomi Child, Zailey Wilcox, Jaxton Wilcox, Lucas Wilcox, Sebastian Argentine, Aiden
Argentine, and her brothers Rick Kone and Rob Kone. Who will forever hold her memory
close to their hearts.
A viewing will be held on the morning of August 29,2025 from 9:30-11:30 a.m., at Premiere
Funeral Home in Roy Utah. 5335 S. 1950 W. Roy, Utah, 84067. Following the viewing there
will be a graveside service at the Hooper Cemetery at 12:00 p.m. 5290 S. 6300 W. Hooper,
Utah 84315. Friends and family are invited to gather and honor Cathie's beautiful life. If you
would like to send flowers, please send them to Premiere Funeral home in Roy.
Cathie’s legacy of love, kindness, and strength will remain with all who knew her. She will
be profoundly missed and never forgotten.
