Cecil Lynn Wariner's Obituary
Cecil Lynn Wariner passed away in Layton, UT, on Tuesday, May 18, 2016 at the age of 92. He was born on January 18, 1924 in Waurika, Oklahoma to Newton Lonzo Wariner and Myrta Augusta Hogue. He was the youngest of eleven children.
He was the loving patriarch of the Wariner family, and spent his life in service to his family, his church and his country. He spent the majority of his career working in the aerospace industry, starting with Douglas Aircraft prior to WWII, then in the Navy during the war repairing planes, then back to Douglas after the war. After that he worked for Martin Marrieta on rocket engines. He later worked for Rockwell on the first space shuttle, and wound up his career working for Boeing. He worked all over the U.S. with these employers.
He and his mother joined the LDS church when he was 10 years old. He spent his life serving in many capacities in the church, including scouting, bishoprics and stake high councils. He served as bishop twice over the years. He always served humbly wherever he was needed.
He met his sweetheart, Sylvia Linda Lillywhite in California, and they were married on Sept. 4, 1940, and were later sealed in the Mesa, Arizona Temple. They were married for 75 years. He was preceded in death by his son Kenneth (Sandra), and is survived by his wife, Linda, his children Lynn (Idonna), Bonnie (Kent) McKinnon, Bill (Gail), Jim (Diane), Emily (Tom) Holtey, and Andy (Teri). He has 28 grandchildren, one of whom is deceased, numerous great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 11 AM at the Green Leaf Ward meetinghouse, 2160 W. Gordon Ave., Layton, UT. There will be a viewing preceding the services at 9:30 AM, and internment will immediately follow the services at the Uintah Town Cemetery, 1504 E 6400 S., Ogden, UT.
