Cecile Ella Smith's Obituary
Our dearest mother, Cecile Smith, left us to join her sweetheart, Howard Smith, Saturday, December 8, 2012. Mom was born January 29, 1911, to David A. Garrett and Daisy E. Garrett. Mom grew up in Centerville & Salt Lake City. Mom met Howard at a dance & they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 21, 1933. They raised four children; Stan, Ken, Bev and Steve. Mom loved our Savior & served as a visiting teacher for many years. Mom loved her family, friends, their cabin in Samak, fishing, winters in Yuma & Lake Mead, family reunions & Christmas open houses. Mom loved to cook, bake, crochet, read, and tend her beautiful flower & vegetable gardens at Pop's side.
Mom is survived by Ken, Bev (Dee) and Steve (Julie), 13 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 19 great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband, son, Stan & one grandson.
The family thanks Dr. Beth Hanlon, CNS Hospice & the nurses/Drs. at St. Marks Hospital who cared for her.
A viewing will be held on Friday, December 14, 2012 from 10:00 am to 11:45am followed by services at 12:00 noon at the Gregson Ward House (3153 So. 900 E.) Internment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
