Cecilia Irene Castillo's Obituary
On May 12,2024, Our beloved Cecilia Irene Castillo, Ceci gained her wings to fly to heaven while surrounded by Babas (husband), daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren, after a long battle with Dementia.
Cecilia was born November 22, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Joseph and Inez Archuleta. She was the oldest of 10 children. Her mother was a stay-at-home mother while her father worked as a Chef.
From a young age Ceci battled serious health conditions. When she contracted TB she spent 2 years in the hospital, her parents visited her daily until she returned home. Ceci attended Catholic school where she loved Chemistry and was a straight "A" student. She graduated from St. Mary's of the Wasatch. Ceci took much pride in her appearance and developed a love for Cosmetology. She enjoyed "dolling up" her family members. She enjoyed helping her mother with her younger siblings who she loved very much.
After high school she moved to Reno, Nevada to further her education. It was there she met the "love of her life," Hector Castillo at a Mexican dance. They were married 2 years later on April 10, 1970. Later they moved to Loyalton,California where Hector continued to work in the lumber industry. They loved to travel, they went to Portugal where Ceci prayed to the Lady of Fatima for a child since she could not have children. Two weeks later, Ceci and Hector became parents of a baby girl and were able to bring her home at 6 weeks old. Later, they moved to Reno where Ceci continued to work in the hospitals and decided to return to school at 40 to get her RN degree from Truckee Meadows Community College. She became a traveling nurse then moved to Salt Lake City, Utah working in labor and delivery with babies; worked at Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield as a Nurse Case Manager, and completed her nursing career as a RN Health Care Coordinator for the Department of Health/Fostering Healthy Children Program.
Cecilia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and loved being a grandmother! Ceci loved her grandchildren and liked to show them off any chance she got. Ceci is survived by her loving husband Hector, her daughter Andrea, her son-in-law Arthur Valdez; grandchildren Dominic, Angelo, Ariana, Issac, Jordan, Aaliyah and her great grandson Moses; her siblings Phillip, Ana, Alfonso, Loranzo, Tommy, and Andrew; parents Inez and Joseph; and many nieces and nephews.
Cecilia will definitely be missed by all and will never be forgotten. Her memory will forever live in our hearts. WE LOVE YOU!
