Charles Franklin Cagle's Obituary
Charles Franklin Cagle (Midway, UT) formerly of Natchitoches, Louisiana, age 93, passed peacefully from this life to his eternal home on January 4, 2023. Charles was born October 21, 1929, to Thomas and Golda Cagle, also of Natchitoches, LA.
Charles and his beloved wife Inez (nee Chandler), married 72 years, spent most of their life in Natchitoches, Louisiana working side by side, and raising their 5 children. They also spent many years in North Shreveport, LA., however the last several years were spent in Midway, Utah. Throughout his life, Charles was a hardworking man, and was successful in many different business endeavors. As a young man, he worked for Louisiana Power and Light in Winnfield, LA. Later he would open Winn Truck and Tractor/Industrial Equipment Company, selling logging equipment for the timber industry. Charles revolutionized the way timber was harvested at that time, with hydraulic log loaders. He and Inez then embarked on their dream of owning and running a cattle and quarter horse ranch just east of Natchitoches. Ranching was his true occupational love. Eventually he moved into the financial services industry as Senior National Sales Director for Primerica. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and opened several other businesses over the years. He was an accomplished pilot, frequently flying to business and church meetings.
His life was devoted to serving the Lord and spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. Charles loved serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served as Bishop, Stake President, and Patriarch among other callings. One of his favorite callings was early morning seminary teacher with Inez for high school students. They served for many years. He loved working with the youth.
Charles had a passionate love for LSU football. A more enthusiastic LSU fan would be difficult to find. He loved analyzing the team, plays, and coaches with his family and friends. In earlier years he was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Family was truly the sweetest part of his life, and he was extremely proud of his children. He treasured his “Nezzie Girl” above all else. Hand in hand they walked through life embarking on one adventure after another. The last thing Charles did in his earthly life, was reach for and hold her hand.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Golda Cagle, sister Golda Mae, grandson Michael Chad Cagle, and many other beloved family members. He is survived by his wife Inez, Children Vicki Boilesen (Dean), Mike Cagle, Melissa Nelson (David), Lori Stucki (Douglas), Martha Brown, 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren.
