Dad and mom always took us to Estes Park CO in the summer. The last time was Dad and I. It was late summer. We were doing an easy hike starting at Bear Lake in RMNP. It was cloudy and cold. Quickly the temperature dropped, the wind howled, a near blizzard started. We weren’t prepared for this. Once it became near whiteout conditions dad said we need to hunker down and found some thick bushes. We sat it out. Dad found the humor in the moment. It made me feel safe. After a while the storm eased and we skedaddled back to the car.
