Charles Harlin's Obituary
Charles Harlin our beloved husband, father, grandfather a man of honor courage distinction and humility moved to his heavenly home on July 17th 2020. He was born January 3rd 1948 the son of the late Charles and Essie Mae Harlin.
Charles matriculated through the Utah public school system then graduated from Weber State University where he was one of the founding members and Education Chairman of the Black Scholars Union. He was a man committed to service and served in the US Army with distinction for over 30 years. In 1981 he married his wife Phyllis and they continued to love and cherish each other until his passing 38 years later. Cherishing his memory are his wife Phyllis daughter Kerrie Harlin, grandchildren Denzel Matthews, Alexis Matthews, brother Charles Johnson in-laws Elena Gonzales, Patricia Gonzales, Romelo Gonzales, Rem Gonzales and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate his life will take place July 22nd 2020 at 10:30 a.m. At Heritage Park 2700 West 5600 South Roy Utah 84067.
Charles's family is eternally grateful for the sacrifices he made to give great memories of not only his kindness, self-sacrifice and generosity but also his sense of humor. We will miss the smile that lit up a room, his bellowing body shaking laughter and his many pranks which included hiding presents under lettuce in salad bowls, chasing you with insects, making his unsuspecting daughter drive his mother around while listening to the chaos and laughing in the back seat and of course jumping out from behind doors to give a heart attack to everyone he loved.
