Charles B Johnson's Obituary
Charles Bayles Johnson born on March 19, 1972 in Salt Lake City, Utah unexpectedly passed away at his home in Magna, Utah on June 19, 2023. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Norris Adair Johnson and Dorthea Bayles Johnson, as well as his sister, Gwendolyn Johnson. We are sure that they are happy to be together again with Charlie.
Charlie is survived by his brother, Floyd Johnson (& Jeannie); Roger Johnson (& Venus); Glen Johnson (& Kristine); as well as, many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who love him very much.
His parents took him on countless sightseeing and fishing trips. They also involved him in the Special Olympics from which he has a box full of medals.
He worked as a janitor at the University of Utah since 1992 (31 years). He consistently was up at 4:30 a.m. getting ready to catch a bus a block from his home. He seldomly missed a day of work. He loved his work, and especially the people he worked with. He received a special award at his work for his outstanding performance and example.
He was usually found wearing a Ute baseball cap. He not only rooted for the University of Utah; but often talked about the campus improvement, and how he was helping to make it happen.
Looking forward to and decorating for holidays was his passion; He had countless Halloween and Christmas decorations. He loved Thanksgiving dinner (always fighting over who would get the leg). He usually ate one and took the other home for later. The 4th of July breakfast with his friends of the Lakeridge 6th Ward was a favorite of his. Doyle Jenkins always invited him, and kept him posted on what was happening. They had a great relationship. Doyle was really a best friend to Charlie.
Charles will be remembered as a dependable worker, a fun-loving, teasing, and sometimes goofing-off friend, and as one who didn’t complain about his problems or talk negatively about others. He will be greatly missed!
Funeral services will be held Thursday 29th at 11:00 a.m. at 3606 South Wing Point Dr. (7615 West), Magna, UT, and preceded by a visitation from 10:00 – 10:45.
