Charles Edwin Ledward's Obituary
Charles Edwin Ledward
1944 - 2019
“Sometimes we come to life’s crossroads and we view what we think is the end. But God has a much wider vision and He knows that it’s only a bend…( “The bend in the road”, poem by Helen Steiner Rice).
Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Charles Edwin Ledward returned to his Heavenly Father after struggling with his health, on Monday the 28th of October 2019. Charles was born the 22nd of December 1944 in South Africa. He loved good blues and 50’s rock ‘n roll music. He belonged to a band in which he played the bass, a harmonica and sang. He loved playing rugby, soccer, cricket and water polo. He belonged to a fireman crew and enjoyed participating in competitions. He spent 26 years in the South African army and climbed to the rank of Sergeant Major. He worked as head of security for DeBeers Ultra High Pressure Unit. He gave up his life and status in the military, as well as an established career to make a better life for his prized possession, his family, when he immigrated to America in 1993. He worked most of his years in America at NuSkin and Xango. Later in life he worked for Wal- Mart. He was a kind person and would give anybody the shirt off his back. He was a true “McGyver” and could fix anything. He loved jokes and making people happy. He held many church callings and loved them all. He always left people better than he found them. He is survived and eternally linked to his wife Maria of 54 years, his sister Ethel (Gordon), his 6 children Cecil (Cheryl), Evette(Gordon), Sophia(Vaughn), Fred(Beverly), Theral(Alecia), David(Kelly), 22 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
A “Celebration of his life”, and memorial open house will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 505 East 900 North, Spanish Fork, UT.
