Charles Samuel Ryser

Charles Samuel Ryser passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 26, 2022, at Beehive Homes of Salt Lake City where he had been a resident since October 2018. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 14, 1922, to James and Hilda Ryser. Charles graduated from East High School and served in the East Canadian Mission from 1942 to 1944. Soon after completing his mission, he joined the Coast Guard during WW II and traveled to Central and South American countries. He was lovingly called Charlie or Chic by family and friends.
He married June McCallister in 1945 and divorced more than 10 years later, after having adopted John (deceased), Jane and Kristen, whom he loved dearly. He married Ruth Wilson in 1971and was pleased to be a father to her 4 sons Joel, Mark, Kelly and Jack.
He was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Charles believed in the Lord and felt he was blessed with many good things in his life.
Charles had a successful business, Ryser Seat Covers, doing upholstery work for over 30 years. He was very well liked by many customers across the state of Utah. He was involved in scouts and priesthood quorums.
Charles was known for his generosity, funny sense of humor and love of eating ice cream. He along with his four steps sons, Ruth, other family and friends built a cabin in Alpine Wyoming. The cabin was a big source of joy for him. He loved to go fishing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and driving up to Jenny’s Lake near Grand Teton National Park and puttering for hours in the garage. The cabin was a place to make memories for everyone who visited.
Charles is the last child of James and Hilda Ryser to pass away and missed his 100th birthday by a few weeks. He is survived by his daughters Jane Newman Ryser grandchildren Melinda, Scott, Brian and Corey. Kristen Ryser grandchild Amy, Sons Joel K Faulkner grandchildren Elliot and Aaron, Mark E Faulkner grandchildren Sharon, Jason and Chris. Jack W Ryser grandchildren Allie, Jackie and Jamie, Kelly Ezell, nine beautiful great grandchildren and many loved nieces and nephews.
Charles family would like to thank the staff of Beehive Homes of Salt Lake City for their many years of dedicated service and care provided. Their work was invaluable.
Graveside Service to be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 N Street, on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at 10:00 am. His burial site is in the Ryser Family plot.
