Cheryl Kay Tolson's Obituary
Thoughtful, stubborn, generous, and outspoken. Our wife, daughter, mom, step-mom, GMA, aunt and friend, Cheryl Kay Tolson passed away November 1, 2020, at the age of 72. Cheryl was born to Doreen (Sadler) and Richard Geyer in Ogden, Utah on September 7, 1948. She grew up in Ogden and Sunset and played a huge role in the lives of her sis Pam and baby bro Kevin. Cheryl was full of Falcon Pride as a member of the first graduating class at Clearfield High School. She once said that she got married because she was tired of doing dishes for everyone in her family.
Over the span of 10 years she was then blessed with five children of her own and several more through foster care. In her attempt to escape chores she actually tripled her housekeeping duties while adding many more. Cheryl met her soulmate, Ken Hines in 1981 while he was working here from out of town. Cheryl warned Ken that she had a bunch of kids but he did not scare away and contributed two more children to the clan. Ken and Cheryl made a life together traveling, working, and raising their family. After a twenty year engagement, they were finally married April 1, 2001. Cheryl admitted that she "got lucky" when she met Ken and to this we all agree.
Cheryl loved her work, her friends and her family. She enjoyed seeing and doing things and always had her "foot in the road". Cheryl was very creative and enjoyed writing stories, poems and letters. She loved to talk, and talk, and talk, usually about people that nobody else knew. Cheryl always cheered for the Jazz, the Yankees and the Packers. She was a passionate about both her religion and her country. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a proud supporter of President Trump.
Cheryl is survived by her mom Doreen (Farr West), husband Ken (Louisiana), Children; Brooklyn, Kimber, Kelly, Sam (Alisa), BranDell (Brett), Kim, Steve, bonus daughter Britni (Isaac), 12 grandkids, 8 greats, and sisters Jenny and Julie (California). Cheryl was preceded in death by her dad Richard, step-dad Sandy, sister Pamela, brother Kevin, and nephew Erick.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street at 12pm with a family celebration of her life to follow.
