Christine Renea Hanchett's Obituary
Christine Renea Thorsen Hanchett, 80, passed away peacefully April 16, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Born March 4, 1942 in Medford, Oregon, Christine was the third daughter to parents Helen Davis Thorsen and John Christian Thorsen; later divorced.
Christine was blessed with a beautiful singing voice and love of music. Tragically, this was taken from her, but she remained greatly comforted by the thought of one day singing with the heavenly choirs.
Christine was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. One day, when she was young, she saw a handsome new missionary at church. Immediately she informed her mother that he was the man she would marry. On October 3, 1961, that proclamation came true when she married Myron Geiger Hanchett in the Salt Lake LDS temple.
Eventually, Christine and Myron fulfilled their family goals with the addition of 7 children and made sure to share their love of fishing, camping, swimming in the creek, horseback riding, and gardening with each of them.
In 2001, Christine became extremely ill and was given almost no chance of survival. Thankfully, her feisty and energetic personality proved the doctors wrong. After a 5 month battle, she pulled through like a champ and blessed her family with 21 more years.
Christine is survived by husband, Myron, children Brian Hanchett (Andraya), Jim Hanchett (Tammy), Carrie Wells (Daiman), Renée Robison-Hanchett (Cynthia), Mark Hanchett (Tiffany), Jeffrey Hanchett (Jen), Cheryl Gilbert, 27 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, sister Nadine Helen Thorsen Shepherd, and many nieces and nephews.
Christine was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Lou Williams, and sister Marion Corrine Thorsen Abbott.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 27th, at 11:00am with a viewing from 9:00-10:30am at the LDS Chapel at 1800 W 1800 N, Farr West, UT. Flowers may be sent to the LDS Chapel the day of the funeral at 8am.
The family would like to express their most heartfelt gratitude to the kind and caring staff at Chancellor Gardens and Symbii hospice.
