Christopher Duane Guest's Obituary
Our loving husband, father, son, brother, grandpa and everyone’s favorite uncle put on his riding jacket and with his wife’s arm around him, rode off for one last ride in the early morning of Tuesday, April 12th.
Chris was born on Labor Day, September 2, 1968 to Travis Byars and Lenore Brown Guest. He is the youngest of three and the caboose to brother Travis and sister Nannette. Growing up in California he resided in Los Angeles, Torrance, Sherman Oaks, Burbank and the High Desert. He played High School Football at Burroughs High School and Victorville High. He lived in Las Vegas and South Dakota for a short time before moving to Orem, Utah. While attending UVSC, he met the love of his life and the “ She to his nanigans “, Monica. They were married on March 7th, 1998 and later sealed in the Timpanogos temple.
Chris taught Jiu-Jitsu classes at the college and also tutored Calculus. His love for martial arts earned him a black belt in American Kenpo and he ended up teaching classes where his sons Raymond, Christopher and nephews, Boston and Caden joined him. Loving all things to do with the ocean, he was an avid surfer and received his Master Divers lic. He loved driving trucks and hauling loads with his father and brother for several years in the family business. In 2003, he relocated his family back to Apple Valley, California where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Operating Engineer Union, Local 12. After 7 years, we returned to Utah.
His love for driving trucks got him a job working for Savage, then finally Ridge Rock. The love he had for his wife, children and family is unparalleled and fierce. He believed family is everything and there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them. His laughter will always be far better than any joke that was ever being told. He fought his terrible disease to the bitter end, armed with his loved ones beside him through his battle. There are no words, nor the breath required to speak them, of how great a loss this is to everyone that knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife Monica Guest, Children Cecilia Gardner ( Trevor ) of Wallsburg, Ut. Raymond I. Byrnes ( Nicole ) Santaquin, Ut. Rachel Guest ( Matthew ) Draper, Ut. Christopher L. Guest, Major Guest, Kathryn Guest and Daniel Guest all residing in Eagle Mountain, Ut. 4 grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Bristol home healthcare for all their kindness, patience and compassion.
