Christos A. Tsoufakis' Obituary
Christos A. Tsoufakis
1916 – 2017
Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away peacefully at his home on March 17, 2017 of natural causes. He was 98 years old.
Christos was born on May 19, 1918, to Antonio and Maria Vasilakakis Tsouakis in Chania, Crete, Greece. On September 15, 1946, he and Anna Perakakis were married. They were married for 64 years. In April of 1963, Christos, Anna, and their three children immigrated to Salt lake City, Utah.
Christos served honorably in the Greek Hellenic Air Force during World War II. He was a great barber who learned his trade at the age of 14. He also worked for many years at Ajax Presses.
Our dad was a wonderful father and devoted husband. He loved to play backgammon and poker over the years with his many friends. Christos loved his Greek Orthodox faith. He lived it with devotion and commitment every day of his life.
Christos is survived by his brother Evangelos (Ellie) in Greece, daughter Effie Papadakis (George), sons Jim (Linda) and Tony, grandchildren Rita, Anna (Kelly), Gina (Brandon), Christopher (Amanda), and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Anna and his brothers John and George.
Our heartfelt and deepest gratitude to our brother Tony, who provided devoted and loving around-the-clock care to our father in his final years. The family also wishes to thank Inspiration Hospice, especially Shane and Dominic, for the compassionate and thoughtful care they provided to Christos.
Funeral services will be celebrated Monday, March 20th. Friends and family may call from 10 am to 11 am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 279 South 300 West, Salt Lake City, Utah. The Trisagion Prayer Service will be held at 10:30 am. Funeral services will commence at 11am. Committal is at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 500 South, following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Holy Trinity Cathedral Fund.
May his memory be eternal, and may he rest in peace in the arms of our Lord.
