Cindy Lee Wilks' Obituary
Cindy Lee Lawrence Wilks
December 31, 1953 – May 13, 2014
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away on Tuesday, May 13th 2014 unexpectedly in her sleep. She was born on December 31, 1953 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lorne Osborne Jr. and Gayle (Freeman) Lawrence. She was daddy’s only girl with 4 brothers (Kim, Glenn, Rex and Stuart) and was the apple of his eye, Cindy could never do any wrong. Her early years were spent in Salt Lake where she attended Cyprus High School in Magna, Utah. She later met and fell in love with Frank Lee Wilks, who on the day she met him told her parents “I’m going to marry this man”… and she did. They were married on June 10, 1972 and a year later had their first child, Heather Rebecca. They were so excited to start a family that 16 months later their baby boy Terry Lee arrived. Cindy was employed for 10 years at Salt Lake City Airport Authorities as a safety control dispatcher.
Cindy was the kind of parent that never missed a sporting event that involved her kids. She was always known as the team Mom and took care of all the kids as if they were her own, Cindy was caring and fun loving mom. She never missed an opportunity to express her love to the people she cared about. She always had an open door to welcome new additions to her family Aaron Neil Lawrence, Digna Gittens and Lisa Walker to name a few.
She is the proud and devoted grandma to Sajen Bleu, Danika Shane’, Tyler Alfonso, Tristan Kanesha, Kaysen Koew, Taylor T, Maklayne Lorne, Elexis Marie and Traylin Marie. The kids loved their grandma which often resulted in Frank getting kicked out his bed for their many sleepovers. Outside of spending time with her family, she filled her time with pottery projects, reading her books, playing her electronic games, and watching her favorite shows, and letting the granddaughters play with her hair and paint her nails. She loved to socialize on anyone’s porch.
Cindy is survived by her husband Frank; daughter, Heather (Tessa); son, Terry (Nicole). Her siblings, Kim (Joy); Glenn (Carla); Rex (Julie) and Stuart (Michelle). Preceded in death by her parents Lorne Osborne Jr. and Gayle (Freeman) Lawrence.
