Clara Marilyn Stamper's Obituary
Clara Marilyn Stamper was born in the city of River Rouge, Michigan, on February 6, 1937, along with her twin brother, Robert Frank, who lived only 39 days. Her parents were Paul Eugene Stamper and Virginia Williams Allen.
Marilyn loved cats and dogs and cared for several as pets. She worked for a doctor and would transcribe shorthand notes and listen to him diagnose his patients, document their surgeries, and type it up for him.
Marilyn lost her mother in 2001. That’s probably when She and Pat moved from Centerville to Farmington.
Her sister, Pat, was her best friend. Marilyn was so patient taking care of her. They both lived at Rose Cove where our journey of getting to know Marilyn and Pat began. When Pat passed away in 2015, Sue Thurgood helped Marilyn adjust to living by herself.
Marilyn never spoke a bad word to anyone. She was a very sweet and giving person. She gave many people at Rose Cove rides to appointments or other places. She and Marlene Sonnie were Greeters at the doors at church. Bishop Barry and Cathy Figgins were her Ministering Couple and took very good care of her and Pat.
In 2020, as the hideous grip of Alzheimer’s began to affect Marilyn’s ability to care for herself, faithful friends such as Delayne Lolohea, Marion Stoof, Jo Ann Matern, Lori Wilson, Carol Hill, and the Fairways Ward Relief Society Presidency stepped forward to manage her affairs. Marilyn was admitted to the South Ogden Post-Acute facility the first part of November. She would never return to her beloved Rose Cove apartment.
Marilyn was moved to the Pheasant View Assisted Living Center on June 1, 2021. She was still able to make and receive phone calls from friends and loved ones. Many visits were made – almost on a daily basis. Occasionally, she was taken for rides to see the world she loved – especially the mountains! She loved to watch the TV program, N.C.I.S. There were trips for ice cream and burgers, too. Her favorite treat was anything chocolate – particularly York Mints! She also enjoyed seeing the Layton Temple as it was being constructed.
Marilyn passed away the evening of November 13, 2024, at the Sunridge Assisted Living Center in Layton, Utah, where she had been lovingly cared for by the Center staff and members of the Parkway Branch since March 2023.
