Clarence Reese Barney's Obituary
Clarence Reese Barney was born September 1, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah and returned to our loving Father in Heaven at his home on January 16th, 2021 from cause’s incident to age.
Clarence graduated from West High School and then went into business with his brother at a service station. He later enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War in 1949 and served until 1954. He served as a military police officer in Greenland and an Air Force mechanic in New Mexico. Clarence was a pioneer in starting the first electronics school in Utah.
Clarence is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as a High Priest and enjoyed his time as a ward clerk and serving other callings within the church. He found great joy serving as an ordinance worker at the Jordan River Temple.
Clarence loved fixing things with his hands, working with animals on the farm, fishing, camping, duct tape and had a fondness for labeling everything in and out of the house. He loved to eat out especially seafood and steak even when he didn’t have teeth anymore.
Clarence is survived by his wife Marla Barney, children Tacy Barney, Brandon Barney (Connie), Barrett Barney (Janice), Derek Barney (Nissa), 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Orvel and Elizabeth Barney, his siblings Beth, Don, Bob and Loren, daughter Jolee Hojnik (Dave) and great-grand daughter Cadee Conner.
In lieu of formal funeral services, there will be a traditional military honors ceremony followed by an open house memorial on Saturday, February 6th, 2021 at Clarence and Marla’s home. The honors ceremony will begin at 11am and will be immediately followed by the open house memorial. All are welcome to attend the military honors ceremony.
