Clarke Edward Taylor's Obituary
Our loving husband, father, brother and friend passed away peacefully with his wife by his side after a long illness on September 12th, 2014.
Clarke Edward Taylor was born on December 31, 1937 to Erma Knight and Norman Bliss Taylor in Moab, Utah where he spent most of his adolescence amongst the red rocks that he loved. Clarke spent a brief time in the Air Force before attending the University of Utah where he pursued a love of anthropology and began a lifelong path involved in education. While working at Head Start, Clarke met the love of his life, Carolyn Burnett, in 1974 and the two married on August 5, 1978 in Salt Lake City and together they raised two kids whom they loved deeply.
Clarke’s kindness and intelligence led to both a love of helping people and working with his hands. He had several upholstery shops throughout his life and could never get enough of tackling new projects. Whether it was home remodeling, computer repair or numerous odd jobs, there seemed to be no task that he couldn’t complete.
Clarke spent sixteen additional years in the school district, between his heavy involvement in volunteering at his children’s school and his nine years as a elementary school computer lab technician, where he contributed to the many lives of his students. Clarke spent his retirement years working at the Newspaper Agency Corporation and continuing his hobbies of working with technology and on cars.
Clarke is survived by his wife Carolyn, his children Amelia (Steven) and Jason and his brothers Glen (Roxey), Norman Burke (Peggy) and his sister Ada Geraldine “Gerrie“ (Dick). He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Douglas, Curtis and Loren "Bucky." A viewing will be held on Friday, September 19th at The Atrium at Western Gardens, 9201 South 1300 East from 6-8 pm.
