Collette Gray's Obituary
We celebrate the beautiful life of our dear sweet daughter and sister, Collette Gray (aka Cole or Lettie), who passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025. Born on April 29, 1975, she will always remain 49 and never hit the big FIVE-OH. She lost her life to an aggressive form of cancer that advanced quickly.
Collette had a passion for baking where laughter and love were the main ingredients. Her creations for many family and church events were more than just cakes and treats; they were a taste of her love, warmth and generosity. Having no children of her own, she spoiled her five nephews, eight nieces and one grandnephew. Each one brought a special joy to her life. She was THE favorite Aunt (next to Channa).
As a child she was known as a quiet peacemaker and silent observer. But her mischievous, spicy side was what her family loved most about her. She enjoyed her time at the College of Eastern Utah where she made lifelong friends. She logged a million miles walking all over the Salt Lake International Airport, where she worked, greeting friends and family as they traveled the world – only to never have boarded a plane herself.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and enjoyed serving in various aspects of the Church. She especially loved her time serving in the temple, as an usher at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City and with the young women in her ward.
Next to baking, the love of her life was her furry feline friend, Miss Sophie Fluffy Pants. From a very young age, she always had a cat companion and always wished she could rescue more.
She is survived by her mother, Kathleen Gray, siblings Jeff (Rachel) Gray, Chad (Michelle) Gray, Channa Gray, Douglas (Angie) Gray, Troy Gray and Megan (Derick) Wilson. We are so grateful to know that she was welcomed to her heavenly home with open arms by her father Spencer Gray and many generations of loving grandparents.
We want to especially thank her wonderful care team at the University of Utah Hospital and the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Their compassion, care and concern helped her feel surrounded by love the last three weeks of her life.
The family has requested that you consider, in lieu of flowers, helping to pay for Collette's end-of-life care and memorial expenses. You may assist by making a donation directly via Venmo (@collettegray) or through a GoFundMe account that has been set up on her behalf: https://gofund.me/14954891
A celebration of Collette’s life will be held from 9:30 am – 11:00 am on February 22, 2025, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 3364 West 11400 South in South Jordan, Utah.
