Conley Barrus Campbell's Obituary
Conley Barrus Campbell, our most beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully on August 31, 2023 at the age of 81 surrounded by his loving family. Conley was born September 10, 1941 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Lowell James Campbell and Delsa Barrus Campbell. He was the oldest of their eight children, having 2 sisters and 5 brothers. He was a remarkable man who made a positive impact on many lives with his love, kindness, wisdom, and above all, his patience and understanding.
Conley grew up spending a lot of time on the dry farms in Juniper Idaho along with his family and extended family (aunts, uncles, and many cousins). At the young age of 19, Conley served a 2 ½ year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the West Spanish-American Mission, serving in Southern California, Arizona, and western New Mexico. He loved sharing the gospel to others and took every available opportunity to do so.
Towards the end of his mission, Conley and his companion had the opportunity to teach a very special family in Orange County, California who chose to accept the Gospel and were baptized. When his mission was completed, he began to write letters to the daughter of this family and on June 26, 1964, he married Leonila (Lee) Lopez for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles, California temple.
They made their home in Southern California and gave birth to 4 daughters and 1 son. Conley cherished his family and deeply loved each and every one. He especially cherished his wife, Lee, and loved her unconditionally. Conley enjoyed family outings, church activities, and spending time not only with his family, but also extended family.
In June of 1978, they moved from Southern California to Northern Utah – back to his old stomping grounds.
Conley worked hard at everything he did and was a great provider for his family. He found his passion in working with computers and data processing, and later in his career, he enjoyed his consulting work for various companies.
Conley was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, holding many various callings and always wanting to help where he was needed. His last calling was serving as a temple worker in the Logan, Utah temple. He loved this calling and looked forward to going to the temple almost every day. He shared his testimony with all he encountered and showed others love and support with every word and deed.
Conley is preceded in death by his father, Lowell James Campbell, and mother, Delsa Barrus Campbell. He is survived by his wife and eternal companion, Lee Campbell, their 5 children, Yolanda Brammer (Matt), Monica Sturdevant (Charles), Elena Rains, Ramon Campbell (Tammy), and Laura Mast, 18 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, 2 sisters, and 5 brothers.
Words cannot express our gratitude for this great and caring man who has returned home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We know that he was welcomed home with open arms by his loving parents and has paved the way for his loving wife and children to return home when their time has come. He will be watching over us and be with us in our hearts and minds daily. We love you, Dad!
We would like to thank Spring Gardens of Draper and all the wonderful, loving CNA’s for their compassionate care to both of our parents. We also want to thank Bristol Hospice for their compassion and support during the final days of his wonderful life.
