Cory Sue Wahlberg's Obituary
Cory S Wahlberg, age 79, passed away on June 25, 2026. She was born February 18, 1947 in Salt Lake City, UT to David Elggren and Sue Price. She is survived by the love of her life, Ron Siegel, and their beloved cat, Gabbie, as well as her younger sister Lisa Roy (Bill) and half-brother Davey Elggren (Ethia). She was preceded in death by her parents and her niece, April Rich, as well as many dogs and cats that will all be waiting to greet her at the Rainbow Bridge.
Cory was a role model and mentor to her little sister, and Lisa felt guided and protected by her big sis for her entire life. Cory grew up in Salt Lake and attended Highland High School and the University of Utah. She worked at Rio Grande Appliance, then at RC Willey, finally retiring in 2017 at age 70. She was well-loved by her co-workers and the customers she served.
Cory always had a smile on her face and a positive outlook, despite health challenges caused by rheumatoid arthritis that began in her early 20’s. Her sense of humor never faded. She was a good listener, always supportive of friends and family, and conversations with Cory were always fun and often full of shenanigans. Her favorite beverage was Coca Cola and she loved pretty much anything chocolate.
Cory cherished the beautiful bronze sculptures and other artwork created by her mom over the years. During her youth she was an avid skier, and her trip to the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics with her dad was a special highlight in her life.
Cory moved to South Jordan in 1999 and she and Ron spent many happy years making it their home. She took pride in landscaping the yard with trees and colorful flowers. She had a keen eye for interior decorating, and she surrounded herself with her favorite things: her mom’s bronzes, skiing-related artwork and other knick-knacks and treasures.
Cory ultimately moved to an apartment at Cottonwood Creek Assisted Living, where Ron and Gabbie also resided. For several years, until early 2025, she was able to independently navigate the hallways there in her wheelchair. Her spirit was boundless but her body just couldn’t keep up.
The family wishes to express thanks to Cory’s caregivers at Spring Creek Healthcare and Canyon Hospice, with special thanks to Rachael, her hospice nurse, who always went above and beyond with Cory's care.
A celebration of Cory’s life will be held at a later date.
