Cowen H Baxter's Obituary
Cowen H Baxter, age 80, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Nov. 30, 2023. He was born on Dec. 28, 1942, the youngest of 4 children, to Richard H Baxter and Iolanda Anna Baxter, in Preston, ID.
He met the love of his life, Tanna J Baxter in 1963 while working at JC Penney’s. They were married in May of 1964. They had three children, Becky, Leisa and Dee. He was a devoted husband, father and grandpa. His family was his world and he was his families’ world.
Cowen worked for Mountain Fuel for 35 years. He attended business college to learn his business and accounting skills. He also held several church positions throughout his life.
He really enjoyed the U of U Utes, he loved to attend the U of U basketball games for many years and when he couldn’t attend them in person he would watch them on TV. He loved to go camping, and riding four-wheelers and motorcycles with his family. He enjoyed going to many of the local car shows, and making sure that his yard and his vehicles were in pristine condition. He had a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor to the end.
He is survived by his wife, Tanna J Baxter and their three children, Becky (Scott) Sanders, Leisa (Jim) Tanner, Cowen Dee Baxter; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; his brother, Jim Baxter, and sisters, Marie Reeder and Karen Taylor. Cowen was preceded in death by his parents and 1 great grandchild.
Many thanks to friends, neighbors and others who have helped to take care of him for the last few years. Funeral services will be held on Dec. 8 2023 @ 1:00pm, a viewing will be held before the funeral beginning at @ 11:00am (1500 S 800 W, Woods Cross UT 84087). Interment will be at Memorial Lake View Cemetery
